Question:
I have "non understanding" eyes in the house, and was wondering how your
package is marked? I've heard a lot about your company, and would like
to give your products a try !
I
wanted to try your ARD-3 cloth diapers, (ordering one at first..)
but was concerned about your shipping methods. 10/23/99
Answer:The
packaging and labeling of the package that we ship our products in, in
no way indicates the contents of the package. Even our return address name,
which appears on the return address label is noted as L.C.D.C. The only
exception to this is the customs declaration form that we have to fill
out for overseas orders. Here we list the contents of the package as medical
clothing. So let me assure you that the only way for anyone to know what
the exact contents of your package is, would be to open it.
As
an added note, if you pay by charge card, what will appear in the transaction
description field of your charge card statement for the merchant name is,
LCDC.
Question:
Can you please give me some information on washing and caring for my plastic
pants, in order to make them last longer? Thank you. 11/29/98
Answer:Yes,
I can answer your question.
First
of all, when washing your plastic pants, never use chlorine bleach or fabric
softener. These products will attack the plastic. If your plastic pants
are stained and you want to remove the stain, try boiling the pants in
a pot of water on the stove top with a little detergent. Most all plastic
pants will tolerate being cleaned in this manner. Otherwise, just wash
them in the normal wash, again, without bleach or fabric softener. For
drying your plastic pants, it is best to line dry them indoors as the UV
rays from the sun will also shorten the life of the plastic. Never put
plastic pants in the drier with your cloth diapers, as the heat is to high
and will melt the plastic. If you want, you can use the drier set on fluff
(no heat).
Secondly,
and probably the biggest reason why plastic pants go bad quickly, is because
of the pant coming in contact with petroleum products or petroleum based
products. Most all products such as Vaseline, diaper rash ointments such
as Desitin and hemorrhoid ointments, contain petroleum. Check the ingredient
list of the product to see if it contains petroleum. The petroleum in these
products attacks and degrades the plastic, causing the plastic to become
hard and brittle to the point where the plastic will crack. Don't be fooled
into thinking that, because the area that has been treated with these products
is covered by the diaper that the petroleum can not get to the plastic
pants. It can.
What
happens is that, as the wearer wets the diaper, the urine carries the petroleum
through the diaper, allowing it to come in contact with the plastic pants.
Over time, the plastic is degraded to a point where the plastic pant is
no longer usable. This effect is most always seen to occur first in the
crotch area of the plastic pant. The reason for this is do to the fact
that this area is normally where the highest concentration of the product
containing the petroleum is used and is where the diaper is always the
wettest.
Here
are some possible solutions that will help prevent your plastic pants from
being ruined when using products that contain petroleum.
1.
Change the diaper frequently during the time that products which contain
petroleum are used. Not only will this help save your plastic pants, but
it will also aid in clearing up diaper rash, if this is the reason for
using these products.
2.
Apply a generous amount of powder to the treated area after applying a
product that contains petroleum. The powder will help absorb the petroleum
from the product and will help in preventing it from migrating into the
diaper and onto the plastic pants. Dusting the inside of the plastic pants
with powder will also help protect the plastic pants.
3.
During the times that these products are used, a disposable diaper could
be used in place of the plastic pants, there by saving your plastic pants.
4.
Set aside one or two pairs of plastic pants that will be used only during
the times that a product that contains petroleum is being used. This will
prevent exposing the rest of your plastic pants to the product that contains
the petroleum.
5.
Wash the plastic pants often during the time that a product containing
petroleum is used. The shorter the time of exposure to the petroleum, the
longer the plastic pants will last.
I
hope this has helped.
Question:
I was wondering about the plastic pants that you have for sale, would they
be large enough in the crotch to cover the diapers I use at night as I
find this to be the biggest problem? I have ordered plastic pants in the
past (not from your company) where they simply would not fit over my night
time diapers. Thank you for your time. 11/29/98
Answer:You
are not alone when it comes to this kind of problem. The pants that we
carry are of a full cut. Meaning, they will more than cover even the thickest
of night time diapering. The crotch in the pants that we carry is also
very wide and they do a nice job of completely covering the diaper in the
crotch area. All of the products we carry are thoroughly tested to a minimum
set of standards. The concern you have is at the top of the list of these
standards. A plastic pant is not much good if it does not adequately cover
the diaper, allowing the diaper to leak.
Question:
I was wondering if your pull-on briefs could be made with an outside layer
of soft quiet plastic so there would be no need for separate plastic pants?
11/29/98
Answer:We
are currently looking into this as a product upgrade for the pull-on briefs.
This product upgrade would not be available until 1999. If we do decide
to offer this product upgrade, it will be announced on the "What's New"
page.
Question:
I am trying to get an idea as to just how thick your diapers are before
I order. But I can't seem to come up with a good way to do this. Can you
help? 10/05/98
Answer:Sure!
I think I can help! The best way to get a good idea as to how thick our
diapers are is to take some standard bath towels and either fold them to
the number of layers of terry that are in our diapers, or, take the same
number of bath towels and lay them on top of one another per the number
of layers of terry that is in our diapers. Another words, take an ARD-3
for example. Three towels or two folds, that forms three layers, would
indicate how thick the center panel is. While one fold or two standard
bath towels would indicate how thick the rest of the diaper would be.
Question:
I noticed that you no longer carry the Disney Print plastic pants, are
you going to carry another item like it, or will it not be replaced?10/05/98
Answer:All
though we are out of stock on the Disney Print plastic pants, and we can
not get any more, we are currently in the process of trying to get something
similar to offer our valued customers. We have several irons in the fire
and if we are successful, we are sure you will be pleased.
Question:Can
I order embroidery with the pull-on-briefs you offer?10/05/98
Answer:Yes,
you can order embroidery for the pull-on-briefs. An example of one that
we did is shown on the Embroidery page. The
same cost and limitations that are listed for the embroidered diapers,
also applies to the pull-on-briefs.
Question:Can
I use the pull-on-briefs you offer for night time use?10/05/98
Answer:Our
pull-on-briefs were designed for daytime use and we recommend against their
use as sleep protection. The reason we recommend against their use as sleep
protection is because the majority of absorbency is in the center panel
which runs from the elastic waist band in the front to the waist band in
the back. If the wearer were to wet while laying on their side, there would
not be enough material to absorb all the wetness. So most likely the wearer
would experience leakage. Standing or sitting are really the positions
the briefs were designed for and they do an excellent job I might add.
We have gotten nothing but positive feedback on them.
Question:Is
the embroidery you offer just for the children's diapers, or can I order
it for the adult diapers too?08/05/98
Answer:Yes,
you can order embroidery for the adult diapers too. While incontinence
and incontinence management is a personal and sometimes an emotional issue,
we feel that the embroidery allows a person dealing with this to take a
light hearted and maybe even a humorous poke at what otherwise is a very
serious personal situation. The diaper that is shown as the example was
our first request for the embroidery. Lil Kimmie wanted something that
would be unique for her. Lil Kimmie is 21 and suffers from incontinence.
When she came to us with this request, we wondered if others would want
it if we offered it. Well, the response has been overwhelming. And why
not? Why should this kind of garment be any different from any other when
it comes to it being personalized? So please don't feel embarrassed about
ordering embroidered adult diapers.
Question:
When will you be coming out with new products?08/05/98
Answer:
We are always looking to come out with new products. We have a number of
new products in the works at this time. We hope to have them available
very shortly. One of our goals is to be constantly adding new products
and to improve our existing line of products. Any new products or product
improvements will be announced on the What's New Page.
Question:
You say in your "Order" page that you will E-mail back, within one business
day, with a response that you received my E-mail or order. How come I did
not receive a response from you in this time frame?08/05/98
Answer:
We try our best to answer your requests within one business day. Sometimes,
for reasons that are unknown to us, we do not receive your E-mail and your
orders. If you do not receive a response from us within one business day,
please, either resubmit your E-mail or your order or contact us by phone.
Question:
I noticed on your web site that you offer what appear to be children's
print plastic pants, are these for adults too?08/05/98
Answer:
Yes, these pants come in adult sizes as well. No matter what the age, no
matter what the problem, there seems to always be a kid in all of us.
Question:
I would like to place an order using your online order form, but I'm a
bit concerned about giving my charge card information over the internet.
What should I do? 08/05/98
Answer:
Your concern is very understandable. As told to me by our web page designer,
there is no way to guard this information 100%. Once transmitted onto the
internet, there is nothing to stop a hacker from acquiring this information.
Not even a so called secure order form will prevent someone, who is determined
to do so, from acquiring this information. But there are ways to get this
information to us and reduce the risk of this information falling into
unscrupulous hands. First of all, most hackers that have the goal of acquiring
your charge card information, do so with the aid of automated programs.
These programs intercept the information and scan it for patterns that
represent charge card information. One way to foil this kind of hacking
is to disguise your charge card number. An example of this would be to
place characters in between each of the numbers of you charge card number.
For example, say your charge card number is 4253 1234 5678 0000, well,
you would place it in the form similar to this, a4b2c5d3e 1f2g3h4i 5j6k7l8m
0n0o0p0. Or this, 4*2*5*3* 1*2*3*4* 5*6*7*8* 0*0*0*0. Get the idea? The
only way to discern the charge card number would be for the hacker to take
the time to look at it himself. I doubt that he would take the time to
do this. You could also submit your order form with the charge card information
blank and then send a separate E-mail to us which contains this information.
Another way, and is the most secure of any there is, is to fill out the
order form, leave the charge card number area blank, and phone your charge
card information directly to us. Even if no one is here to take your call,
you can leave the information on our answering machine. But please, let
us know on the order form of your intent to phone in the information.
Question:
I have looked over your diaper products for adults and I am very interested
in purchasing, but I am unsure as to which product will fill my needs the
best. Can you help me please? 08/05/98
Answer:
Let me start by thanking you for your interest in Loving Comfort diapering
products. In the adult diapers, we manufacture two different styles in
three different thickness, (absorbencies). They are the contour style diaper,
(CD-x and CDV-x) and the flat pre-fold style diaper, (ARD-x). Both styles
have the same number of layers and use the same material for each of the
layers in the corresponding thickness, (1,2 or 3). We normally recommend
the number 3's for night time use and any time that frequent changing is
not an option, such as long trips, as they are the thickest and therefore
the most absorbent. The ARD style diaper will have the greater absorbency
over it's counterpart the CD because the material that is removed for the
contour fit in the CD style diaper remains as part of the ARD. But, the
ARD style is not as comfortable as the CD style because of the added bulk
between the legs. The 2's and 1's are recommended for daytime use,
with the 2 being more absorbent than the 1. Since these diapers are thinner,
they will not have as much bulk between the legs and therefore would be
more comfortable where an active life style is desired. The 2's can also
be used as a night time diaper if the amount of wetting is moderate or
several changes will be done through out the night. Also, the 2 and the
1 would allow double diapering if more protection is needed. You also have
the option of teaming up any of the different thickness of diapers with
the different diaper inserts we make, (ADI). With the inserts you can easily
change the absorbency to best fit your particular need.
